May The new sapping season starts in late winter; typically from mid-March to mid-April in most maple-syrup producing areas, when temperatures are below freezing at night and above freezing during the day. Tours usually begin in early Spring! That's a great time to visit a maple sugar orchard or sugarworks and see a sugaring demonstration; watch them make maple syrup!

Where are Maple Syrup farms/orchards/sugarworks, etc.? Well, they're not in Hawaii or Florida, for sure. They are concentrated in the northeast and upper midwest in the US and the eastern half of Canada, even though maple trees do grow in the northwest.

Directions: From Oneida, take Main Street (route 46) North, towards Durhamville, after crossing the Thruway, turn right at the flashing light and follow the signs. Closed 2 days each week for spraying, call for recorded message.  Dave & Joan's Sugarhouse provides open house's during the Maple Sugar producing season. Most weekends you can stop by the Sugarhouse (look for the steam coming out of the sugarhouse - it means we are open for business). When you stop in we will explain how the sap is collected and processed. You can also talk with the family about the entire operation.  Maple products are available for sale year round. Open: Saturday, March 2, 2019 to Sunday, March 31, 2019, Repeats every Sunday, Saturday; Saturdays - 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM; Sundays - 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM. In Central New York, one of the signs of spring is maple syrup time. The Beaver Lake staff has prepared extensive programming centered around the year's "first harvest" including a demonstration sugarbush with six different stations to introduce visitors to the heritage of maple sugaring as well as an opportunity to sample the fruits of photosynthesis. The sugarbush will be open to the public and staffed with knowledgeable interpreters every weekend in March. In addition, the popular pancake breakfasts will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon each Saturday in March. Depending on the appetite, breakfast costs will range from $3-$5 for a meal featuring pancakes, sausage, juice and a hot beverage. Maple goodies such as maple cream, maple candy, sapsuckers and syrup will be available to purchase from the Friends of Beaver Lake. Free with nature center admission. (ADDED: March 20, 2016, JBS)

We can deliver a smoother, creamier product when we cool our maple sugar candy longer than our competitors before we beat it. We have a thicker, creamier product that cannot be poured into molds because of this. We do offer individually wrapped leaf and heart shapes for those customers who want molded candy. Our competitors often dilute their sugar with cane sugar, thus making their maple sugar cheaper (and, as a result, their packaging more expensive!). We do not dilute any of our Maple products and use only pure Maple syrup in any products we produce.
